How to Clean Quartz Countertops: The Right Way

To get the most out of your quartz countertop, you'll need to know how to clean it. Quartz worktops are rather low-maintenance; in fact, they're quite easy to maintain. If you want to keep your kitchen countertops looking new, you'll need excellent care and maintenance!
Quartz's resistance to staining, non-porous surface, and durability make it a superior choice for countertops than granite. Despite their toughness, quartz countertops still need some upkeep.

How to Clean Quartz Countertops: Daily Routine

Quartz countertops are one of the most maintenance-free worktops on the market, but it's still good to keep your investment in top shape by using some standard cleaning. A spill must be dealt with as soon as possible.
Wipe the surface of your quartz as soon as possible. The longer a substance is left on the quartz, the more damage it may cause, so clean it fast. Keep it dust-free and crumb-free to avoid damaging the surfaces when you do wipe them. It sounds stupid, but it happens all the time.

How to Clean Quartz Countertops: Cleaning Tips

Use mild dish soap: Regular cleaning should be performed with a mild soap or detergent, followed by a soft cloth. Make sure the soap does not contain bleach or cause irritation to your quartz countertop surface.

Be gentle: Don't use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they can damage the surface of your quartz. It's best to keep to soap and water.

Use a soft cloth: Always use a clean, soft cloth when cleaning your countertop. This will avoid scratches and streaks.

Wipe in the direction of the grain: When you do wipe down your countertop, make sure to do so in the direction of the grain. This will avoid any streaks or smears.

Don't use harsh chemicals: As we mentioned before, quartz is a rather tough surface, but it can still be damaged by harsh chemicals. Avoid using any cleaning products that contain bleach or other harsh chemicals.

Use coasters: Place coasters under all beverages to prevent any water rings or stains.

Clean spills immediately: Quartz countertops are not stain-proof, despite their stain resistance. As soon as possible, wipe up any liquids. Quartz will resist stains for a short while, but all colored liquids should be removed as soon as possible.

Use fine steel wool (wire wool): If you have a stubborn stain, you can use fine steel wool to remove it. Just be sure to go with the grain and not against it.

Use a cleaner specifically for quartz: You can find cleaners that are made specifically for quartz countertops. These are usually milder than regular cleaning products and will not damage your countertop.

Avoid heat: Quartz is heat resistant, but not heatproof. It is a durable surface but you should avoid putting hot pans or other objects directly on the surface of your quartz countertop. Use a trivet or a cutting board instead.

Preventing Quartz Countertop Damage

Avoid Extreme Heat: For pans, crockpots, and electric skillets, use hot pads or trivets. Quartz can withstand temperatures up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit but is damaged by rapid fluctuations in temperature. Also known as "thermal shock."

Use a cutting board: Quartz countertops should not be used with knives. Quartz is scratch resistant, not scratch proof, but it can be harmed if violently struck with a sharp instrument. A cutting board is suggested.

Avoid harsh cleaners: Cleaning with highly acidic or alkaline chemicals, such as nail polish remover, turpentine, oven cleaner, bleach, drain cleaners, dishwasher rinsing agents, and so on should be avoided.
All acidic cleaners are bad for quartz countertops. Clean spills immediately using a mild detergent and water or disinfectant wipes to remove citric acid like lemon juice.

Avoid excessive force on your quartz surfaces: Do not apply pressure or force to your countertops, such as dropping a large pot, because the stone may be chipped or fractured.

Use the right products: It is important to use the right products. See above for our best products that you can use to clean your quartz countertops.

How to Remove Hard Water Stains From Quartz Countertops

Fill a bucket with equal parts warm water and white vinegar.
When cleaning quartz, dip a soft rag into the mixture and wring it out so that it's damp, not dripping from the warm water.

Rub the stain in a circular motion until it disappears.
Rinse the area with clean water and dry it with a microfiber cloth or sponge.

If the above doesn't work, mix a paste of baking soda and water. Apply it to the stain with a damp cloth and rub in a circular motion. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Repeat as necessary.
You can also try using a store-bought hard water stain remover, following the instructions on the bottle. Glass cleaners can sometimes be used on a quartz surface, but check the label before doing so.

Always keep some fine wire wool on hand to remove any tough stains that may pop up on your quartz countertops.

You can use fine steel wool or a plastic scraper to gently scrape away any surface grime. Use mild dish soap with a non abrasive sponge or soft rag to clean grease off of your quartz countertops.
